1 Cooking Directions - In the Microwave
Combine 1 cup brown rice, 3 cups water in a 2 ½ quart microwave-safe dish. ( I suggest microwave glassware, see below) Microwave UNCOVERED on HIGH for 10 minutes.
2 REDUCE power to 50%, microwave uncovered 20 minutes. After the Brown rice is completely cooked, allow it to sit for 5 minutes.
3 Fluff the rice with a fork. Do not add salt or butter/margarine to the rice until AFTER the rice is cooked.
4 Give it a taste test. The rice should be a CHEWY consistency unlike soft white rice. At this stage you may add 1 tbsp margarine or butter, salt, and/or whatever seasoning and veggie' s you desire.
