The general principles of the diet of a diabetic

    
* Do not make a strict regime
    
* Being able to eat everything
    
* Eating a varied and balanced
    
* Eat a reasonable amount
    
* Do not count calories obsessively consumed
    
* Take the advice of a nutritionist or dietitian, with the consent of the diabetologist
    
* Avoid eating foods rich in isolated sugar
    
* Respect each meal proportions of various food groups required:
    
* 40-50% carbohydrate
    
* 15% protein
    
* 30-45% fat
    
* Never consume sugar cube except where exceptional situation requires it (eg hypoglycemia)
    
* Respect the total amount of carbohydrates allowed
    
* Control weight: in patients with type II diabetes, weight loss, whatever it is, improves glucose
    
* Rhythm of meals: splitting meals is essential to maintain good glycemic control
    
* Perform 3 main meals and that 1 or 2 snacks
    
* Eat meals regularly
    
* Do not skip meals
    
* Eat vegetables and fruits at every meal
    
* Eat starchy foods at each meal, one lunch and dinner
    
* Combine vegetables and starchy
    
* Avoid foods high in sugar
    
* Prefer lean meats
    
* Eat fish at least 2 or 3 times a week
    
* Eat starchy foods and distribute them across the day so that the intake of carbohydrates to match the body's needs and your physical activity
    
* Vary the foods
    
* Make a real breakfast
    
* Drinking enough water
    
* Avoid sugary drinks, big suppliers of sugar
    
* Reduce the consumption of meals
